sustainability initiatives

We started focusing our efforts on reducing our impact on the environment in 2006.

Our Living Green journey started with the formation of a green team and having a sustainability policy in place.

Our greening encompasses all aspects of what we do at the hotel, from recycling up to 94% of our waste, installing energy efficient equipment, reducing our water consumption by installing efficient shower heads, green procurement of recycled and biodegradable materials; plus our involvement in community greening initiatives, like our alien clearing adopt a plot project in the Table Mountain National Park and others like tree planting at less privileged schools.

For more detailed information on our sustainability initiatives please contact Chris van Zyl, our Sustainability Manager and Horticulturist at the Vineyard Hotel and Spa on 021 6574500 or e-mail

indigenous gardens
Our drive has been to keep the garden as indigenous as possible and in the last four years the garden team has been actively working towards this goal. All new planting is indigenous and only organic compost is used. No harmful chemicals are used in the garden.
