April wine tastings

1st April:  Edgebaston Wines

Edgebaston Wines are made by David Finlayson in the Finlayson family vineyards in Stellenbosch. They strive to farm the land, grow the grapes and make the wine in an environmentally friendly manner whilst ensuring that each wine is world class. Only organic fertilizers are used in the vineyards, with the sources being hormone-free dairy herds and compost sites. The range of wines reflects the personality and winemaking philosophy of the region and the Finlayson family.

8th April:  Keermont Vineyards

Keermont Vineyards is a boutique wine estate set in the naturally-formed amphitheatre between the Helderberg and Stellenbosch mountain ranges. They aim to create wines that reflect this beautiful place and the particular year’s vintage conditions, using few chemical fertilizers andpesticides, and irrigating as little as possible. The result is natural, well-balanced vineyards that yield quality wines. Only grapes grown in Keermont Vineyards are used in the production of their wines.

15th April:  Holden Manz

Holden Manz is situated 300 metres above sea level in the top-most southern corner of the Franschhoek Valley. The long, cold and wet winters allow the vines to rest well, while hot dry summers and a gentle autumn allows for slow ripening. The diverse terroir, three different soil types and a marked seasonal climate results in vineyards perfectly suited to their intention – the production of ultra-premium wines made for the discerning wine connoisseur.

22nd April:  Simonsig

Simonsig wines are recognised both nationally and internationally for exceptional quality. The estate’s commitment to environmental sustainability is evident in various coveted accreditations and certifications. Grapes for La Motte wines are drawn from the estate, as well as from other farms in the Cape Winelands. Due to the variety in terroirs, grapes from the different regions make a unique contribution to the flavour components of these popular wines.

29th April: Grangehurst

Grangehurst is located on the slopes of the Helderberg in Stellenbosch and specialises in the production of handcrafted red wines and dry rose. The winemaker, Jeremy Walker, sources the finest grapes from the Stellenbosch region and strives for every vintage to be made in the age-old way, using artisinal, traditional and unhurried methods. This hands-on approach, years of experience and uncompromising attention to detail ensure that only the highest quality of wines are bottled under the Grangehurst label.

Tastings are from 18h00 – 19h00 every Monday, year round, and are staged at our Garden Lounge. We look forward to seeing you there!
