The hotel’s weekly wine tastings, available to all Vineyard guests, are a perfect opportunity to sample the latest and best from some of the Cape’s many estates and to meet their winemakers.

February wine tastings
4th February: Saxenburg
Situated on the hills above Kuils River between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. The farm prides itself on their terroir, which is ideally suited to Shiraz and thanks to this varietal, Saxenburg has become a prominent South African exporter. Saxenburg is locally well-known for the guinea fowl range which aligns with the estate’s values and ethos around sustainability and environmental consciousness.
14th January: Saxenburg Wine Estate
Located between the Atlantic and Indian oceans, produces unique wines of consistent and exceptional quality. Not surprisingly the estate is a prominent South African exporter, and locally well-known for the much-loved Guinea fowl range that ties in with the sustainability and environmental consciousness so highly valued here.
11th February: Silverthorn
Silverthorn produces a range of top-end Méthode Cap Classique (MCC) wines, which have undergone a natural, secondary fermentation in the bottle. Silverthorn’s terroir, with its rocky, lime-rich, shale soils (similar to the famous Champagne soils in France), coupled with their mature Chardonnay vineyards, have ensured Silverthorn’s exciting entry into the world of sparkling wine.
18th February: Bellingham
Bellingham believes that great wines are made in the vineyard. That is why they source only the finest grapes and nurture them from vine to bottle. A high premium is placed on mouthfeel while subtle oak maturation enhances the structure and complexity of these wines. Minimal intervention and maximum attention to detail produces distinctive, complex wines that are both expressive of their origin and complementary to a wide range of cuisine.
25th February: Sterhuis Estate
Sterhuis Estate produces stellar wines. The rich soil and cool climate provides rich nuances of flavour to the variety of grapes grown on the estate using a naturalistic, holistic approach. The Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin, Merlot and Chardonnay, planted in different locations to maximize flavor and processed in a hands-on style have earned many awards.
