The Wellness Studio is run by well-known fitness instructor, Chris van Loggerenberg of FITCO, who also manages our fitness centre.

“Hatha Yoga is a path toward creating balance and uniting opposites,” says Jess Mcleod, one of our certified yoga instructors. “It is a powerful tool for self-transformation. Bringing attention to our breathing, it helps us still the fluctuations of the mind and be more present in the unfolding of each moment.” Hatha is relatively gentle, slow and great for beginners or students who prefer a more relaxed style where poses are held for longer.
Vinyasa Yoga is more suited to those who already have an understanding of proper alignment in the yoga postures. “There is a dynamic flow in this practice and less time is spent in each posture than in Hatha Yoga,” explains Jess. “It is a vigorous style based on a rapid flow through sun salutations. Each movement is a gradual progression from one to the next. The movement is aligned and linked with the breath – you move with each inhalation and exhalation.”

Jess has been teaching yoga for more than 10 years and has this to say about her approach to teaching: “Yoga can support the whole being and through my teaching I hope to empower my clients, if they are open to the process, to find their own awareness. To become more aware, more present and more confident in their own feelings, intuitions and bodies. I am a student most of the time and a teacher for only a small percentage of the day.”
