When Vineyard founder, Lady Anne Barnard noted in one of her famous diary entries of 1798: “The family had drank a dish of coffee with which they begin their day”, coffee was well-established at the Cape. Countless cargos of fragrant Arabica cultivated in the eastern colonies of the Dutch East India Company paused in Table Bay en-route to the coffeehouses of Europe. Perhaps that’s why Capetonian and Vineyard ‘quaffers’ have always been coffee ‘connoisseurs’.
Long Café, off the Hotel’s main foyer, offers Vineyard guests a truly ‘connoisseur’ coffee experience. We serve a variety of exceptional coffees as well as light meals and a selection of sinful cakes and patisserie. Open daily from 8am to 5pm.
All the beans, used for our distinctive coffees, are sourced from individually selected, sustainably-managed estates by the Quaffee group. These are freshly roasted and blended on site at the Quaffee roastery, adjacent to the Long Café. Freshly-roasted ‘single origin’ coffee beans as well as the unique Vineyard Blend can be purchased at the roastery.
