The upcoming Tastes of 2016 promises a sensational line up, celebrating its auspicious tenth year with the suitably fitting theme – ‘knowledge sharing’. This will essentially ‘swap’ Vineyard’s chefs and their staff with those of top wine estates and their kitchens. Each group having the opportunity to learn about how things are done elsewhere.

“We want to share some of our knowledge and experience with other chefs and staff, while gaining experience for our own,” explains Food & Beverage Manager, Matt Deitchman. “By ‘swapping’ with top wine estates we can spread the culinary love, as it were, while getting hands on experience in harvesting, foraging and sustainable farming.”

The ‘Tastes of 2016’ festival kicks off on Sunday, 6 March, with the much-anticipated Festival of Bubbles where guests enjoy light canapes and entertainment while sampling some of the Cape’s best Methode Cap Classique (MCC).

On Saturday, 9 April, the hotel will host their annual Burgundy Celebration Dinner with Elgin Valley, followed on Sunday, 10 April, by the Pinot Noir Festival.

Friday, 22 April, celebrates the hotel’s five wine partners – Klein Constantia, Simonsig, Meerlust, Waterford and Warwick – enticing guests with five courses to match the wines from each estate. From there the dinners will take place fortnightly, featuring wines from estates such as Ken Forrester, Mulderbosch, Oak Valley, Glen Carlou, Rust en Vrede, La Motte, Babylonstoren and the Friends of the Vineyard.
