The Vineyard Hotel is Cape Town’s Good Food and Wine Hotel
Further establishing its reputation as Cape Town‟s leading food and wine hotel, the Vineyard Hotel in Newlands is thrilled to announce that it has been appointed as the official Celebrity Chefs‟ accommodation partner for the 2015 Good Food & Wine Show in Cape Town.
The show, which has been bringing iconic international and local celebrity chefs and delighting food lovers across the country for the past 16 years, will again take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 21 – 24 May 2015.
The Vineyard Hotel will be hosting the two international celebrity chefs for the duration of this iconic food event – namely Buddy “Cake Boss” Valastro and internationally acclaimed food writer and MasterChef Australia judge, Matt Preston.
Says General Manager of the Vineyard Hotel, Roy Davies, on the announcement, “As food and wine have played an integral part in the history of the hotel, we are thrilled at the opportunity to further showcase this aspect of our heritage by partnering with the Good Food & Wine Show. We have had the privilege of hosting Matt at the hotel previously, and are delighted to be welcoming him back in 2015. We are also excited to host everyone‟s favourite „Cake Boss‟ and look forward to seeing what tips and tricks our team learns from him – keep an eye on our Afternoon Tea for delicious developments!”
This breaking news was shared with the hotel‟s trade partners on Saturday night, at the Vineyard Hotel‟s annual Indaba dinner, held at the 9th Avenue Bistro in Durban. Guests were treated to a four course menu, with highlights taking the form of Poached Salmon Nicoise served with heritage tomatoes and olive tapenade, and Venison Wellington served with an indulgent sauce Périgourdine. Dishes were each accompanied by a wine from both the Stellenbosch and Constantia winelands – including “The White Lady” Chardonnay from Warwick and Groot Constantia‟s “Grande Constance”.
The format of this evening is based on the successful South Africa vs Australia wine-paired dinner hosted by the hotel in January this year. With Michelin-starred British Chef Roger Jones at the helm, diners who in January were treated to an inspired culinary feast, having to choose which of the paired wines – South African or Australian – complimented the dish best. With South African wines reigning triumphant, a „rematch‟ has been confirmed for 22 January 2016, when South African wines will be pitted against those from New Zealand‟s „Family of Twelve‟, again matched with dishes created by Roger Jones.
Concludes Davies, “As we are a hotel that has always embraced the opportunity „push the envelope‟ with food and wine – whether through our fortnightly winter wine-paired dinners or renowned annual wine events – we welcome the partnership with the Good Food & Wine
Show as an opportunity to not only share our love of the finer things in life with our guests, but to also give our kitchen team the chance to glean tips and skills from some of the world‟s most well-known and respected chefs.”
